Azunak Arena (Solo)

Developer Commentary

When Azunak Arena was first introduced to Adventurers in 2024, it was a team-based mode in which parties of three members from the same guild competed together.

It was later changed to Solo mode and remained in that format for approximately 10 months, allowing Adventurers without a guild or those in smaller guilds to discover new ways to enjoy the content with strategies of their own. Afterward, it transitioned to a two-player team format, which remained in place until recently.

Since some Adventurers prefer Solo mode while others prefer team-based play, we periodically rotate the format of Azunak Arena instead of limiting it to just one.

With this update, it returns to Solo mode. The number of participants and monsters, EXP gained from defeating monsters, Boss HP, the number of Heal Orbs, and other elements have been adjusted accordingly.

Strategically defeat monsters and Bosses, take on other Adventurers, and emerge as the champion of the arena.

- Changed the format of Azunak Arena to Solo mode.
ㆍTo ensure a smooth gameplay experience under the new format, the following changes have been made.

- Each battlefield now has 10–12 Adventurers.
- Reduced the number of normal monsters in the zones leading up to Bosses such as Fugitive Khalk, and increased the EXP gained from defeating monsters by approximately 30%.
- Increased the HP of Fugitive Khalk, Temir, Kvariak, Leebur, and Dark Shadow by approximately 20%.
- Reduced the number of Heal Orbs that appear in zones where Fugitive Khalk, Temir, Kvariak, and Leebur spawn by 50%.
ㆍThe number of Heal Orbs in the zone where Dark Shadow spawns remains unchanged.

Monster Knowledge

Developer Commentary

Since the Season update accelerated progression, Adventurers have been moving quickly through content up to approximately 60,000 CP, leaving fewer opportunities to gain Monster Knowledge along the way.

Since Adventuring Fervor was introduced, the primary ways to gain Knowledge from monsters in lower-CP zones have been through Family Dispatch or by hunting there while consuming Adventuring Fervor.

However, using Adventuring Fervor in zones well below your current CP offered relatively little Character EXP or other rewards, making it an inefficient use of the resource.

To address this, we have changed the system so that Knowledge EXP can now be gained by defeating monsters even after all Adventuring Fervor has been consumed.
If there are zones you moved past before building sufficient Knowledge, you can now continue hunting in the areas of your choice to gain Knowledge EXP even after depleting your Adventuring Fervor.

- Changed so that Ecology and Leveled Knowledge EXP can be gained by defeating monsters even after Adventuring Fervor has been fully depleted.

Category Effects
Adventuring Fervor Available ㆍKnowledge EXP increase based on the Holy Vial of Light level applies.
ㆍBuff effects that increase Knowledge EXP gain apply.
Adventuring Fervor Depleted ㆍKnowledge EXP increase based on the Holy Vial of Light level does not apply.
ㆍBuff effects that increase Knowledge EXP gain do not apply.

ㆍWhen Adventuring Fervor is fully depleted, Knowledge EXP gain is fixed at the base rate of 100%.

Character

Developer Commentary

Drakania’s Slayer was designed to deliver powerful skills and explosive attacks by building up ions. However, her PvE performance in Open World monster zones has exceeded our intended level, while in PvP, we found that she struggled to maintain her MP and lacked smooth skill combos. This update focuses on addressing the disparity in her PvE efficiency while making her easier to control during combat.

First, we reduced the damage of "Brimbolt Tempest," "Edict Unbound," and "Bloody Zone," which were delivering excessive PvE performance, while minimizing their impact on PvP balance. This change is intended to bring her Open World hunting performance more in line with that of other classes.

To improve her controls in PvP, we added a combo option to "Markthanan's Flight," giving her an additional means of surviving critical moments in combat. We also narrowed the activation condition for Ionic Overflow, which previously consumed 50 MP and activated upon using any skill, so that it now activates only when using one of the skills that can be enhanced with ions. This reduces the burden of MP consumption and makes resource management more reliable.

These changes are intended to rein in her excessive PvE performance while improving her effectiveness in PvP. We will continue monitoring gameplay data and performance metrics following the update to maintain a stable class balance.

Developer Commentary

The previous Hashashin update focused on restoring the class's signature mobility by improving the utility of Sandstorm and strengthening his ability to engage and disengage. This update takes that effort a step further, focusing on expanding his combat options through new skill combos and Skill Sigil adjustments.

As he is a fast-paced class that excels at relentlessly pressuring enemies, we added combo options after recasting Mirage and after Sand Saber to help maintain the flow of combat and give Adventurers more flexibility in battle. Serpent's Coil can now also combo into Price of Devotion, Ensnaring Sands, Unforgiven, and Purge, allowing Adventurers to build more flexible combos based on the situation at hand.

Alongside these changes, we also adjusted the performance and Skill Sigil options of individual skills to improve their overall utility.
With the addition of a Flow, Purge can now gain Forward Guard instead of Super Armor. Since this changes how the skill can be used, we moved the Guardian Skill Sigil slot previously assigned to Purge to Solar Strike, one of Hashashin's core skills, to maintain overall combat balance.

For Solar Strike, we removed Forward Guard from its Flow and added a Guardian Skill Sigil slot, allowing Adventurers to strategically choose defensive effects such as Forward Guard or Damage Reduction.

We also changed a Faint Skill Sigil slot for Serpent's Coil to a Refined Skill Sigil slot, providing greater stability in combat now that the skill offers more combo options.

We hope these changes allow Hashashin's signature unconventional playstyle to stand out even more on the battlefield. We will continue monitoring gameplay data to preserve the unique combat experience the class provides.

Developer Commentary

In the previous update, we sought to spread Sorceress' damage more evenly across her skill set by reducing the damage of Wrath of Chaos and Soul Reaver while increasing the damage of underutilized skills. However, our analysis of combat data following these adjustments showed that, despite the redistribution of her damage, Nightmare continued to provide more safety in combat than intended.

Nightmare is a core skill that briefly grants Stealth, allowing her to escape from enemies or approach them undetected. However, we determined that its current cooldown and number of charges allowed her to avoid the risks of combat too frequently.

We therefore increased the cooldown of Nightmare by 2 sec and reduced its max charges to 1, bringing Sorceress' survivability to a more appropriate level. This change is intended to discourage overreliance on a single powerful skill and create a better balance between risk and reward in combat.

We approach balance changes carefully, using gameplay data as our foundation and making gradual adjustments rather than drastic changes. We will continue monitoring gameplay patterns and combat data following the update and make further adjustments as needed.

Nightmare

- Increased the cooldown from 10 sec to 12 sec.
- Reduced the max charges from 2 to 1.

Developer Commentary

Valkyrie's Longsword was designed to provide powerful defensive capabilities in close-range combat. However, our analysis of current performance data showed that the combination of her defensive mechanics and HP recovery gave her greater combat sustainability than intended. We determined that this created an imbalance by leaving opponents with too few opportunities to effectively counter her.

We therefore made adjustments to bring her survivability to a more appropriate level. First, we removed the Guardian Skill Sigil slot from Radiant Burst to reduce the number of defensive effects available to her. Even after this change, Valkyrie can still equip Guardian Skill Sigils on up to five skills, preserving the class's signature defensive capabilities. We also reduced the HP recovery of the Longsword weapon effect "Recover HP after taking damage every 10 sec" from 2,000 to 1,000, curbing her ability to sustain herself while under attack.

These changes preserve Valkyrie's defensive identity while addressing the combat imbalance caused by excessive HP recovery. We will continue monitoring combat data and survivability metrics following the update to maintain a stable gameplay environment.
