2-2. Ancient Anvil gauge for that item's enhancement level will increase upon a failed enhancement attempt.
3. An enhancement attempt made when the Ancient Anvil gauge is full is guaranteed to succeed.
※ Further details, including the types of enhancement susceptible for Ancient Anvil and items that share the same gauge, will be provided in separate notices in the future.
Changes in Quantities for Awakened Enhancement Material for Eidolic Gear, Enhancement Restoration Material for Totems, and Crafting Material for Totem Chests
Currently, the difference in quantity between the material required for Awakened enhancement of Eidolic gear and non-Eidolic gear is not significant. However, we've noticed that with the Ancient Anvil update, which decreases the number of expected attempts to successfully enhance non-Eidolic gear, the difference will become significant. Thus, we are adjusting the quantity of Awakened enhancement material required for enhancing Eidolic gear. Similar adjustments will also apply to restoration material for Totem enhancement and crafting material for Totem Chests, which will be affected in the same manner after the update.

When and How the Gauge Is Filled
(Updated on Jan 9, 2026)
Ancient Anvil applies to most enhancement systems, except for enhancements where each enhancement material increases the success rate by a designated amount, and the enhancement rate can reach 100% provided there are enough materials (Rift Stone, Emblem, etc.)
As stated above, each enhancement level will have a separate Anvil gauge, and some enhancements may share the same gauge for different items.
Please refer to the following table for the types of enhancement susceptible for Ancient Anvil and items that share the same gauge:

How the Ancient Anvil Gauge Is Filled - Examples
Example I (Separate gauges for each item slot) Failing +8 enhancement for a +7 Chaos Helmet 3 times · +3 to the Anvil gauge for +7 Helmets · The Anvil gauge will remain at 3 even if the +7 Chaos Helmet is crafted into a +7 Dawnveil Helmet. · When attempting a +8 enhancement for a +7 Chaos Armor, the Anvil will display the Anvil gauge for the +7 Armor slot and not the +7 Helmet slot.
Example II (Shared gauges across multiple items) Failing +10 enhancement for a +9 Eternal Relic of Ahib 5 times · +5 to the Anvil gauge for +9 Relics · If any Relic (Aal, Ahib, Serrett, Labreve) succeeds in a +10 enhancement, the Anvil gauge for +9 Relics will reset to 0. |
How Initial Anvil Gauge Is Calculated
ㆍAs previously announced at the Calpheon Ball 2025, all failed enhancement attempts between Jul 1, 2025, and the update maintenance on Jan 13, 2026, will count toward the Ancient Anvil gauge.
The following is how the initial gauge is set after the update:
1. All enhancement attempts made between Jul 1, 2025, and Jan 13, 2026, will count toward the initial Ancient Anvil gauge.
2. The initial Anvil gauge is filled, applying the system explained above.
3. If the initial Anvil gauge reaches the threshold, the next enhancement attempt for the item is guaranteed to succeed.
4. The Anvil gauge will not fill above the threshold even if the number of failed enhancement attempts exceeds the threshold.
Illustrated in Examples: Enhancement Attempts for a Chaos Main Weapon
As illustrated in the example below, there are a total of 8 failed enhancement attempts out of 10 enhancement attempts for a +7 Chaos Main Weapon.
However, since each enhancement level has its own Anvil gauge, after these attempts, the character will end up with a +4 Chaos Main Weapon, with the Anvil gauge at 2 for +7 Main Weapons, 1 for +6 Main Weapons, and 1 for +5 Main Weapons.
